IT'S NOT REAL TILL IT FALLS OFF

It's not real till it falls off.

Until my mom's hair started to fall off, her cancer wasn't real. Interviewing my mom was one of the hardest things I had to do. So hard that talking about her cancer lasted only 00:45 out of the 15:62 minutes that I recorded her.

Sometimes, nothing seems real until something physically changes. For my mom, it was losing her hair. The cancer hurt her, but it didn't hurt as much as not looking "beautiful" anymore.
